Does anybody else miss OLD Castlevania?

I myself was not really impressed with the last couple entries into the Castlevania series (Lords of Shadow) and I really miss the old fictional universe, I really want the old game style with the really cool music.. Anybody else feel the same?

Do you mean the ones from the SNES days where it's 2D platforming? As much as I liked those but we are living in different times now and it's inevitable to change. I guess games fall into this category, developers can't stick to the old things forever, they have to stay with the times and what gamers want.

I remember the last Castlevania game i played was when the first Playstation came out. I played that thing night and day. i agree. Some things are just better left the way they were meant to be.

Me. I like old 2D sidescrollers. I had a hoot playing the updated Strider and Castle of Illusions, two of my favorites from my youth. Castlevania was one of my favorites, though since I never actually owned an NES (I would have sold a kidney to get one, but by the time I actually browbeat my parents into buying me a console, Genesis was top dog) I spent most of my time with the game watching my lucky friends play. I'm one of the few who has no patience for twitch, having had my fill of watching other people play video games when I was a consoleless kid.

No, they had 4 different 3d games actually. 2 on the n64 and two on the PS2. The PS2 games are fantastic, great music, great atmosphere!

I'm talking about a set of modern castlevania with the same feel. Dark Souls has given me a bit of the same feel to be entirely honest..

Oh, you meant those Castlevania games. Yeah, I agree that those are a lot better than the new series. Sure, the new ones have better graphics but the PS2 releases are better. I bought Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 and didn't even finish the first stage. I think the new Castlevania are too influenced by God of War and Devil May Cry that it loses its identity.

The big thing for me is the loss of the distinctive Japanese designs and the MUSIC, the new games have CRAP music!!! Where's the cool castlevania music? I didn't realize I was watching a crappy b-movie action flick..

One of my favorite games is Symphony of the night, not only in terms of Castlevania but also just in general, so I definitely do miss this type and I often wish they would make one in modern graphics but of the same exact game but I know that is a bit far fetched so I don't get my hopes up.

I miss old Castle every day of my life. Thankfully the director/creator is no longer a part of Capcom and intends on bringing it back.

Yeah, that would be pretty neat but Lament of Innocence was kind of similar in that regard for the PS2..

I am currently playing the NES Castlevania game, and it brings back memories. It's true that with the passage of time, the series has to evolve, but the legacy of its beginnings would never be forgotten. They can churn out new changes in gameplay, graphics, and sounds, but the past will live on in time.

Oh yes I do. I miss the era of Castlevania IV where it perfectly blends every element of the game. Today's games are okay but it doesn't have that same Castlevania fee to it. Which is a real shame since that game is pretty cool.
