Does ps4 controller work on PS3 console?

Yes,well sort of. You MUST have it connected with the cable,wirelessly it wont work.
And it depends on the games. I tried it with Ghosts and it worked,course the PS home button wont work and if using on Ghosts for PS3 for eg aim and fire is back to default L1 and R1 where on PS4 it's the back triggers L2 and R2. The touchpad button works as select button etc.
So each game is different and may not work with all games. Trial and error.
