Game Release Dates Getting Pushed Back

How do you feel about the release dates of some games getting pushed back? I have already heard of a couple of PS4 games having their original release date pushed back. Does it make you less inclined to buy the game?

It depends but often I'd rather games were pushed back. BF4, GTA and Assassins Creed all had launch problems IIRC.

We're seeing more of it now because devs want to make sure they hit the next gen right. There are also a lot more indie games, the devs of which might have limited time to work on them. Indies have the advantage because there's no expectation there in many cases, they can slap an alpha build notice on it and patch it as needed. Bigger titles are expected to be on the money at launch, and rightly so at £60 a pop.

I have mentioned it before and I will say it again. Better late than rushed. I just hope that the late does not turn into never.

Initially I do feel a little disappointed especially a couple of years ago. Nowadays, I don't really mind as I've learned that games getting delayed mean that they are working out the kinks and make the game better overall. After the fine example of Battlefield 4, I think delays are the best option. As long as the game isn't cancelled, I'm fine with it. Like sidd said, better late than never.

I haven't heard about games being further delayed, but if so, I guess I'd say I'm pretty much used to it so I don't really mind anymore. I think I'd only be terribly devastated if it ended up being delayed into oblivion, but otherwise I'd agree with sid230 as I've also said the same before in a few of my previous posts. A well made game coming in late is definitely much better than one released on time but seems rushed. As for swaying my decision to buy a new console, I usually let the library build up anyway so it doesn't matter to me that much, but if I were the type to buy games as they come out I would definitely be disappointed and would reconsider buying the console early.

I'm still gonna buy the games, but it kinda makes me mad since the current lineup is getting old/boring. Hoping some decent games will be out soon.

I'm okay with the delays. More developers should take the slow and steady approach out of Nintendo's playbook. Even with delays their games require next to no patches/updates because they weren't rushed. So the wait becomes worth it. Now if a game is pushed back and ends up needing a few updates that's problem. For a sports game it's like "Okay, that's cool. I need my rosters or whatever." Anything else it's like "You pushed this back three or four months, why am I on my third patch?"
