Going back to my PS3 from PS4 for now

I don't have room for the PS3 and PS4 in my TV room and after buying KIllzone: Shadowfall (after on sale), I am going back to hooking up my PS3 until Second Son comes out.

I have my PS4 hooked up to a 54 inch Bravia and I can hardly read the text for the missions on Killzone. I do like NBA 2k14 but outside of that, there just are not any good games and since I have an entertainment center with 4 Devices hooked up via HDMI already, I am going back to the PS3 where I have a much better selection of games until Infamous comes out. I know I can get a HDMI expander but my home entertainment center is just perfect for my PS3/PS4, Asus Media Box, Roku Streamer, and DVR/Cable Box.

I do think the PS4 is a good system and will have great games but I have so many games for my PS3 that I feel it is better to play games on the PS3.

The only things I am disappointed in the PS4 is the launch windows titles, the lack of battery life on controllers, the lack of DNLA, and the fact that developers create text in too small of fonts where a person with 20/20 vision can struggle to read the text from a 54 inch TV from 5 feet away.

I also am disappointed that the PS4 does not support 3D BD playback, and the fact that I cant even play my MP3s, Videos, and other media files off my UPnP NASes.

I find it hard to believe Sony went backwards in many areas on the PS4.

I know things will be great when some of the new games are released but for now, the PS4 is an expensive toy until the AAA hit.

and the fact that I cant even play my MP3s, Videos, and other media files off...
Did you buy the PS4 for games or those other things?
I mean sure,it was handy to have it on PS3,and you would think it would carry on to PS4 as well but still, the PS4 is a gaming console first and foremost would'nt you agree?

Yeah, one of the big things that annoys me and I think everyone else is the fact we cant use bluetooth headsets on it.This is really unforgiveable I think.
And there is still no indication Sony will ever add it.

One of the great things about the PS3 was that you could do so many things on it and other than just play video games. However, there are still no AAA games out and the PS4 could do a hell of a lot more than this 6 years ago. I think the PS4 will be a great console but right now it is useless to me. I can only play so much NBA 2k14.

I went into a couple of retail stores over the weekend and they have a whole bunch of Xbone stuff but just a tiny little section for the PS4.

You guys can say want you want and that it is only suppose to be a gaming system but it is still not even good for that still. Sony really dropped the ball on this one/ t really is starting to piss me off because Sony wont even respond to the questions and there campaign has always been the playstation does everything.

How does Sony release a next generation console that still doesn't even have a multimedia remote for playing BD movies,. It really looks like Sony feels they have a captive audience and is trying to force people to buy music and movies through their shit interface. It comes with a good Netflix interface but I never use it because I don't want to have to use a Dual Shock 4 to control the playback 9f movies. They wont even make their app compatible on Samsung phones. You cannot add any BT devices to it/

You guys can buy into the kool aid all you want but Sony screwed up big time and they will not end up in 1st place if they do not start adding simple functionality to the device. Sony does not care about its client base enough to let them know weather they will add DNLA support and what containers they will add playback for if any. The only thing Sony seems to give a crap about anymore is the bottom line. Sony just missed last place last generation because of some late exclusives which saved them. They really are acting like a big ass company that has a monopoly on the market. They better get their head out of their asses because they have not added anything in functionality in the firmware upgrades to this point and I would advice anyone from staying away from the PS4 for at least a year at this point.

I have never used my PS3 for anything other than playing games. In fact, I have never used any consoler for anything else. The point of a console is gaming. If you want a HTPC, build an HTPC, or get a smart TV.
I think Sony took the right path this time.

If you mean Sony took the lazy way then we agree.

I have an HTPC and a smart tv but I still enjoyed being able to use my PS3 as BD player. I bought a second PS3 just to use as a BD player for the main Plasma TV in the living room.

It is 2014 and Sony wont allow their PS4 app to run on Samsung''s Galaxy line of phone which happens to be largest selling lines of smart phones. It is not Samsung's fault they stole away a lot of Sony's Market. It is Sony's fault for getting lazy and not competitive. I had two High End Sony HDTVs fail under warranty and never had any problem with my Samsung TVs.

I will continue to state that GAMES MAKE A CONSOLE. Sony has a advantage in that the Wii U is essentially not much more powerful than a PS3/360 and the PS4 has superior architecture to the Xbone1 but the problem is Sony is acting like they don't give a damn what the people who buy and support their systems want.

I don't have that much invested in the PS4 at this point. If Infamous Second Son is buggy and Uncharted feels like more of the same then Sony better watch out.

I am a small business owner and I survive by actually going out of my way to make sure my clients are happy. I am a big believer in supporting local businesses. I care about more the cheapest price. I will go in local hardware stores, and other locally owned business and pay a little bit more to have someone know who I am and ask how my wife and kids are doing and mean it.

Of course there is no local video game console makers but it is a big deal how I feel a company treats their clients to me. Right now, Sony gets an F -. As someone that had two PS3s, bought over 100 games for the PS3 over the life of the console almost always new and was a PS+ member from day 1, I don't feel Sony gives a rats ass whether I am satisfied with the progress of their system and if you want to know first hand then call their customer support and they will make it clear to you they don't give a damn.

There is no excuse in 2014 to buy the latest and greatest Sony console and it cant even pair to a Sony brand BT headset.

This is what we get now. A console that is not complete. If anybody here thinks I am wrong I welcome to here why with an explanation of why Sony was talking updates before the system even hit the shelves. Like you I use my PS3 for more then games. DVD/BLUE RAY, streaming movies and music form the net and HDD's, Web searches and just about every thing else it does. After all "It only does everything". Sony had to release before XBOX which from what I read on other forums is a whole other mess (same thing, Releasing it before it was ready). They learned a very hard lesson about not being ready the last time. I kept my PS3 and my 360 because I knew from the begging that the PS4 would not play video or music files. I figure the will release an update in the future that will allow for the use of external HDD's, music and video BUT I have a feeling that these releases will be terribly strict when it comes to playing content. I can only hope that games like Drive Club and Second Son are being withheld to be perfected. If they release these games with bugs after being delayed I will be more then disappointed.

BTW My PS3 has seen more use since the PS4 then I think it ever did. One good thing with the lack of games on the PS4 for me is playing all the jewels I missed on the PS3.

whats wrong with having both ps3 and ps4 plugged in? Unless you have a tv with only 1 hdmi slot and you are not running through a receiver with multiple hdmi inputs, you can have both plugged in and switch with a simple press of a button on a remote control.

Its still early in its release, things will come in time. I think pretty much everything was known on release for what would work and what does not work at the moment.

It is about room and I have 3 other devices plugged in my HDMI slots: A Cable Box, 2) Asus O!Play and 3 Roku Streaming Box. I have the PS4 in HDMI 4 but all this stuff is a nice home entrainment center furniture that is made out of wood and can be closed which makes the house look nicer. Also, keep in mind I have a nice 6.1 Onkyo Receiver which takes up a good bit of space too. I have 6 HDMI ports on my living room Plasma TV but I am not going to put the PS4 there are that really is for my wife and myself to watch movies and TV and has a PS3 hooked up to it for BD movies, 3D Movies, and TV. My son sometimes plays games on the PS3 when no one else is doing us using it.

I have been slammed by Fanboys for stating the PS4 was rushed to market but it Is the truth. Sony's Playstation Mantra has always been "It does Everything." Are they planning on changing it to "It plays games?" Does Sony realize they are in a more competitive market where Tablets and Smart Phones can keep the casual market entertained and that Sony needs to go after the living room space.

It is obvious Microsoft has been planning their Xbone1 for longer as they have more titles and more you can do on it this time. Microsoft shot itself in the foot the DRM and no used/loaning games but the damage was done by the time Microsoft removed the DRM. If Microsoft releases a Kinect Free version of the Xbone1 then I may seriously consider one.

I prefer to have one console but the truth is that both consoles look to have good exclusives. Sony has more of the exclusives I am interested in but the xbone1 only has a slight disadvantage on GPU and RAM so it is not like the systems are that far apart.

I am a gamer and if the Xbone1/Steam can offer a better experience then my loyalty to Sony is gone.

What do you think would happen if Naughty Dog was bought out Microsoft and write their exclusives for the Xone1. If you think about that scenario (I know it wont happen) then that should give you an idea how close the consoles are.

I have hooked the PS3 back up and there are so many great games that I have not finished or want to replay. If Infamous second Son is not very good then I will keep the PS4 on the sidelines until a true next Gen Game hits the PS4 that is fun!

trolol

I think the time frame for releasing new games is hurting sony a bit.
I have both xbox one and ps4,and i have to admit as a sony fan, that the xbox as a hub is miles ahead, just simple things like backgrounds and logging in with the camera.Things that all systems should be able to do whether there a game or multi media hub.
I hope that sony does get things like 4od on them soon as it would be nicer and easier to just use one system.
Someone else said this in another thread,we are basically beta testers for both units.
I'm sure that by the end of the year, when both systems have a fuller games list available then the ps4 power will shine through, but at the moment having all this power and speed and no real selection of games it is hurting them a little.
in my opinion.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but I can't see how any grown man, that's bought & paid for a console, with his own money, can then moan about the lack of games for it!!
Did any of you look what games were out for the consoles before you bought them?
I've had consoles since the NES days & when I've choosen mine, I've always looked at the games before I've bought them.
I knew there were few games for the PS4 before I got mine, didn't put me off it, but I totally understand others holding off.
Yet buying one, THEN moaning....seems somewhat idiotic & very childish.

are you speaking to me? dieslkerr or everyone? i'll answer for myself on this occasion.
i mentioned that in my opinion, the lack of games for ps4 is or seems to be causing some areas of concern for some people, these threads are getting more regular and justified if thats how they feel.
I knew exactly what games where coming out when i got mine, thats why i brought both consules, each for different reasons.
calling people idiotic and childish is rude when in my case you don't know any of the facts about my purchase.

I wasn't talking to anyone in general.
But come on, it's common sense. Take buying a car for arguments sake, if you bought a second hand car & just handed over the money, without even looking at the car, or driving it, just handed over the cash & drove away. You could hardly moan if got home & noticed a massive dent on the back of it.
If someone is spending £400 on a console & doesn't notice there are only a few games out, then comes on a forum & moans about that, to me, that shows a bit of ignorance & stupidity on the product, or at the very least, his/her purchase & I don't need to know the facts about the purchase to understand that much.
That's my opinion anyway.
And to point out, I didn't call anyone stupid or idiotic, I said it "seems" or "shows" In other words...to me. It's how I see it to be. Others may disagree.

ok i see what you're saying as well.
for me i knew that the 1st year would be a little sparse on games, and i'm guessing that in 5 years time games will be using all the power of both consules.
i do think that the lack of games is hurting sony, and i'm sure you're right some people didn't look into that?in which case moaning is a bit silly.I also know how easy it is to get caught up in the excitment of new shiny things lol
looking at both systems in my house,i would agree with some that the ps4 feels rushed to me? not as polished as the xbox one but that's only my opinion
i also think that in the long term the ps4 will be the far superior machine so i'm happy with my purchase

If I'm honest, as a grown up working man that wants to save his money the best way he can, I hope both systems do well. It will mean cheaper games, hardware & overall better service for all, as they will have to compete with each other. Well, that's the theory anyway.
As regards the lack of games, yeah, there really should of been more & of higher quality, but then, I remember buying a Xbox 360 nearly a year after it came out & in the UK at least, there were around 12 games out at the time & some of them were HD ports of last gen games and they were around the £50-£60 mark.
At least this time I get free games. :) So it's not all that bad.

i'm guessing,as my memory isn't that hot,but when i 1st got my ps3 there was a lot less on it than when i stopped using it a few months ago,and i'm sure that was the same for the 360 as well?
i do see what some people like dean29000 are saying, and i can see some points i agree on,but i also think that we have to realise that this doesn't take 2 weeks to put right.
I like watching netflix on the ps4,it doesn't bother me if i use the controller or a remote, and i hope that there'll be a few more apps like that.
I just hope that when destiny, watchdogs and others come out,for either system that they are full next gen.

When I per-ordered my PS4's Drive Club, Second Son, Watch Dogs and War Thunder were supposed to be launch titles. Then one by one they got set back. I finally started a UK account to get War Thunder 2 days ago but haven't played it yet. I want to but I know I will get slaughtered with such a high ping.

it is annoying when games get put back, whatever the reason.
But i can live with it if the game is worth the hype! I'd prefer it to be good than rushed i'm trying to say
