How Long Do You think it will take for the PS4 to begin dropping in Price?

Seriously? The system hasn't even dropped yet and you want a price reduction? It isn't happening anytime soon - the soonest would be 2 years from release if then. The PS4 is a reasonably priced item with a lot of hype ad a great line-up... they don't have to lower their price at all. The Xbone on the other hand is rather a bit more screwed.

Two or three years sounds about right. I'm not sure why you're asking for a price drop so soon, though. I mean, it's already 400 dollars. That's pretty cheap for a launch console.

3 years, right after they got the profit out of it and they announce the PSVita Slim. If you notice, there is always one product that has to be recently released and full price, so don't expect a price drop until a new thing comes out.

Depends on the success of the console... and of course what Nintendo and Microsoft do in terms of price and sales etc.

I think 1 year, for the next Christmas period there will be a small price drop or some nice bundles. Given the somewhat low price of the console to begin with, I agree don't count on it dropping significantly fast.

It probably going to be a while since it is the new big thing for gaming. If they do drop it , it is because they took some features off. Only reason why PS3 dropped is because they took off the backward compatibility.

Well, not quite. While the PS3 did drop after they took out backwards compatibility, it's actually because of the dual disc drive they were putting in the console. They cut it out because they weren't selling enough of the consoles that had backwards compatibility. Things like the Xbox 360 and such saw price drops without losing features. It's simply how the market works. As demand lowers and supply increases, you have to meet the price point low enough for demand to rise again.

I think some minor price change after like 1 year, but atleast 2 years until it drops so that it effects you in a good way

I still think that the price is very good... well atleast in all the countries that sells it for 399... With tax and all that shit we have in sweden the ps4 costs 590$ so that kinda sucks :/ But hey I have the money so I dont care so much, but for the price that you have I would have been able to get like 2-3 games for it aswell :/ This is what sucks with sweden lol

They would probably only drop the price when the next console is coming out to clear out the warehouses of their old product. Lowering their price anytime before it would not benefit them much as their profit margin would drop. It is already cheaper than the Xbox one so it wouldn't really matter for them because they are already the cheaper option.

I don't think a price drop will come anytime soon.
The only situation I can see justifying it is if Microsoft drastically drops the Xbox One price in order to try and regain some market share.
As it stands, with the PS4 being cheaper and (supposedly) the most popular choice, they don't have any incentive to drop the price.

I'm not really sure why either, but as soon as the price was announced people started asking when it'd get cheaper. I mean if it's outside of your budget for now, then save up and get it later. This is what happens when society gets bogged down with instant gratification.

It will take longer than the PS3's first price drop, that's for sure. Having it start $200 cheaper than the previous generation means there will be more people who are able to access it, thus reducing the reasons for a price drop until much later.

True that. I don't think that a price drop is going to happen for at least 2-3 years. So, those waiting for it are going to be disappointed unless they decide to go with a second hand console in the meantime.

I'm thinking a year or two, maybe even longer. It's probable going to drop temporarily for Black Friday/Christmas sales, but then rise back up to original price. However, it's hard to say since it's not even released yet.

Yeah I have to agree, it will take about 1-2 years before the price decreases. Eventually the price will decrease, and it is most likely to have some type of sale around Black Friday. In many peoples cases, it is a good thing.

It'll take a while for the console itself to drop in price, I can't see any significant deals around Christmas time. If you don't wanna wait too long I think the best value will be a couple months after the release date, early 2014. At this point most of the launch titles will drop in price and you'll be able to buy a decent bundle with a game or two.

With all of the competition it could be less than a couple of years. Manufacturers want to be able to keep their customers so they will keep up with the cost.

I don't think they will be dropping the price anytime soon since Microsoft is still struggling with their sales on the Xbox One. Although I think after a good 2 or 3 years they would eventually drop it, but I don't think it will happen soon enough because they have the lead.

I really do not seem them dropping in price anytime soon. You may see a small price drop around Christmas for the holiday maybe a bundle, but not much. I mean even then it may stay the same price, because it is still new. You will see a huge drop maybe in about 3 years or so though. If you do not mind paying for a few months and then getting it layaway it with a few games or wait for some type of bundle.

I'm gonna say 2 2 and a half years. Usually the norm until the first drop in price. I won't be able to wait that long. Especially with destiny and phantom pain around the corner
