How many PS3 consoles have you been through?

I've bought two different PS3 consoles. The first was a phatty at launch which cost me over 600 dollars if I remember correctly. That broke about 3 years later and I purchased a PS3 slim. The slim only works half the time that I use it now. It isn't able to read every disc. But on certain days it reads every disc.

How many consoles have you purchased? Have you sent any out for repair? Anyone go the refurbished route and if so did you have any luck?

I have only been through one system. I bought a PS3 Slim when Uncharted 3 came out and haven't had any problems with it, thus far. I mean, sure, it will freeze every so often, but that only happens once every couple months. No major problems. I still have it and it works great.

I was never going to buy even a single PS3, but I am thankful to my friend who introduced me to awesome games like Uncharted 2 and Daemon Souls. Buying a PS3 was no-brainer.

I'm still using the first PS3 console that i've bought. I don't mistreat it by leaving it on all night or things of that nature. I've spent more than one thousand hours on it and it's still running strong.

I've only had one, which I bought three years ago. Other then a few temporary glitches, it hasn't given me any problems whatsoever

I'm on my 2nd.

The first console died, thermal glue cracked or something. It got pretty massive usage from 3 people for both games and video so can't really complain that the first one died.

I guess I'm in the minority then. I do pack up my PS3 every other weekend or so and bring it to a friend's place. He has a gigantic TV and we play video games with the rest of our friends. I wonder if my transporting of the console in my backpack caused it to break down so early? It's not like I dropped it or anything. I'm still heated about having two of them break.

Only one to be honest, and it's reaching the 5th anniversary if not already passed it by, only change I had to make was in the hard drive because 40gb wasn't enough due to the games requirement of a bigger and bigger amount of disk space, I hope I can repeat the experience with the PS4.

I'm still using the same PS3 I bought in 2008. It was a 40 GB model, but I have since replaced the hard drive with a 500 GB HDD. After roughly 5 years, this sucker is definitely starting to whir up whenever I use it. I probably need to take a can of air to it, but even after that I wouldn't expect this one to last much longer. That being said, I really hope it does hold out until I can afford a PS4 and possibly another PS3. I think the reason I've had such good luck is because I don't play games for 8-12 hours at a time like some gamers. If anything, I've used my PS3 more a a media center for watching blu-rays and stuff like that. Heck, it's still the best blu-ray player on the market!

OK, it is official. I have terrible luck with Playstation 3 consoles. I can't believe that almost everyone I've asked still has their original Playstation 3. That's probably because most everyone I've asked had bought the slim version of the console. The big problems are with the phatties that were launched at the beginning (the debut of the system). Oh well, onto PS4 we will go.

My brother didn't have to replace any. Neither did my good friend. They're still on their original consoles, fortunately. Although I do remember one time my buddy got very tilted when his PS3 froze at the exact wrong moment.

I'm still on my first PS3 (only had it about 5 years though) but it's starting to have some troubles. Occasionally the power/eject buttons on the front just dont work, and you kind of have to push the games in a bit more than you used to, but other than that it still runs fine.

The funny thing is, I switched to PS3 because I went through 3 x-box 360s breaking over the course of about 16 months, I'm glad I made the switch!

I've only had one PS3, and I've had it for about 3 months, so far so good. I've heard of people having problems within 3 months with 360s.

Still one the first after 3 years and i hope it stays like that, i don't have that much income to just waste on the same console, and i ain't really ready to get a next-gen console right now, it's still too soon.

I have only had one PS3 and that is the one I still use.
It haven't had any major errors, actually it has only had a fps drop like once. So I am still happy with the machine. It works like when I bought it so thumbs up for Sony, it is a great system.

Still on my first. No major problems but I have to make sure the disk isn't corrupted whenever my brother leaves it on all night after he watches a movie. He'll never learn I guess haha.

I'm still on my first. It overheats more often than I'd like, but it is Summer, so it'll probably perform better in the winter months.

I'm on my second one.
The first one was a launch one that I bought used from a friend of mine. He didn't really take care of it that well. Left it on for days at a time and dropped it a few times. It still works but sometimes freezes or restarts all on it's own.
My second one is also a fatty as well but is working quite well.
Does anyone know if a semi working launch PS3 is worth any money on ebay?

I'm still on my first - and apparently this is strange. I don't know why. I guess I'm just good at not screwing up my investments or something. Then again maybe I'm rather lucky.

Just the one. And I went through three 360's before I gave up on that brand, if that tells you anything. Hell, my original NES and SNES still work perfectly, while roughly every other system I've owned has died.
