If you look at the PS4 what do you expect for the PS5?

I know, I know. It's a bit early to ask that question. But let's do this gedankenexperiment.

How will we play games on the PS5? Still with controllers or maybe even with thoughts? Sounds ridiculous but it is already possible for disabled people to drive their wheel chairs with just their thoughts. Why shouldn't that be combined with games?

Will we see whole new game concepts? Is there maybe no real difference between a PC, a console, a TV and similar things anymore because everything is connected to the point it appears as one?

I think it's waaaaaaaaaaay too early to try and predict anything. When the 7th generation of consoles came out I never expected anything like Wii Fit or Kinect to come out, and I think that the 8th generation still has a a lot of tricks and surprises for us that we don't expect now, so some ideas that might seem distant and reserved for the 9th gen, might actually come in the 8th gen. But what I would like to see is shift towards more open ended devices where people can tweak with the hardware , change the operating system and easily publish their own video games. Kinda like what the Ouya tried to do, but without failing terribly.

I wholeheartedly agree that it is much too early to even envision what sort of design we will be seeing for the ninth generation, however, one thing that can be said for certain is that it will be more glorious and amazing than it is right now. That is about all that can be said, actually. Even if you are someone who does not like some of the alterations that are made with this upcoming generation, change is good, and this generation is about to bring some of the most technologically advanced changes to open up newer possibilities ("in the cloud" ring a bell?) that will eventually revolutionize gaming as we know it.

It seems to me that the frequency of new consoles that are being developed has increased quite drastically, so we can probably expect a PS5 at a plausible date of less than six years from this launch. It seems more likely that these companies will wait until the sales potential of the product has been exhausted before going head to head with one another with the ninth generation.

TL;DR? Better hardware and more realistic gaming is what we can expect for the next generation and all generations afterward.

Yeah like others have stated already, the PS4 hasn't even been officially released yet, so it's way to early to even begin thinking about the PS4. Hell, we still haven't even seen what all the PS4 can do. Realistically, I don't expect the PS5 to be released until 2020 or 2021. I can only say that it will surely be impressive.

Digital immersion, you put goggles on and your entire surroundings visually take you to the heart of the gaming location. Like a futuristic cinematic experience.

I don't even want to think about the PS5 and what features it has in store for us. One thing is that I will be very impressed, whether it's oculus rift integration which will most likely happen for the PS4, maybe PS5 if it doesn't work out, more features for the playroom, probably more console size changes, controller additions, kinect improvements and a bunch more that I wouldn't dream of. We don't even know the official details of the PS4, and if it even functions and plays games properly, only bits and pieces at the moment.

Man, even thinking about the generation after this next one is crazy to me. Thinking that this new gen will stay around as much as current gen (which is to say about eight years), the technology we'll have by 2021 will just be nuts. The sky's the limit, I guess.

The PS 5 will have these crazy wires that go into your brain so that when you're playing games you shoot mind bullets. People will freak out because robot dealy guys going into your brain could cause your sensitive information to be hacked and that's bad news bears. However, I think it'll be okay because the tenticle robot hands will have 1,000 bit encryption as well as shoot lazer beams.

This is entirely satire by the way...

Anyway, I haven't seen what the PS 4 can do so its really hard to make an estimate on what the PS 5 can do. Remember that during the last 10 years there have been amazing hardware developments that people never really thought would matter. The same thing is going to happen again in the next 10 years so speculation at this point is tossing rocks into the ocean. Just dive in and see what's really underneath!

It depends entirely on the success of technologies that are coming up like Google Glass and the Oculus Rift.
If those are successful (all indications are that they will be) and no health risk is discovered, I can see the PS5 having a full virtual reality integration.
You could use it without a TV, justifying a higher price. Sony will love it!
