PS3 Games We'll Still Be Talking About In 10 Years

Demon's Souls is the one true modern classic on the PS3, in my opinion.

BTW: I saw people talking about FF13 up there. Mark my words, people will love FF13 when FF15 is released and will hate FF15 until FF16 is released. It always happens!

I wasn't a huge fan of The Last Of Us and a few of the titles I think we'll still be talking about 10 years from now are multi-platform. CoD4, GTA, RDR and Skyrim come to my mind. In terms of PS3 exclusives the Unchartered series would be the clear winner for me.

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, easy, it's one of the most beautiful and addictive RPG games to date. It's massive, it's filled with glorious battles with dragons and awesome combinations of stealth and strength. I played it for over 450 hours til my disc broke.

GTAV will be talked about for awhile, especially if they don't make anymore GTA games. I'm sure the new Metal Gear will be talked about, MGSV I mean not the one coming out this year. I agree about Skyrim, such a fun fun game

I'll add that GTA V will be talked about and basically any game that is linked to a series. I mean if Uncharted goes on for the next 5+ years we'll mention previous games that haven't been on the PS4.

The Last of Us. Its a classic. An all time classic. In my opinion, it was the best game of this generation. Now only if Half Life 3 were to come out.

I don't know about love, they might like it. The FFs on NES, SNES, PS1, and handheld ports (which are basically SNES and NES) tend to be bulletproof (especially FFIV-FFVIII). The PS2 and beyond FFs tend to be all over the place depending on when you started playing Final Fantasy/JRPGs in general and that's not including the Tactics games and other long running JRPG franchises that tend to be more consistent from game to game (Fire Emblem, Suikoden, Dragon Quest, SaGa series, Mana series, so on).

It's not a PS3 game, but I still think people will be talking about GTA: San Andreas in 10 years time :D

I see what you did.

Dude, totally forgot about Half Life. Has their time passed? It's been so long since the last one, they are almost like Quake in terms of relevance.

After playing GTAV, I think I'll still probably pick that up 10 years from now. Honestly though, with this generations library and the amount of games I have, I probably will be firing up my PS3 quite often for years to come. More than my PS2 (though I still turn that on once in a while when I feel nostalgic or want to play a good classic game. If I had more time to game, it would be played regularly. Some games I never finished, lol).

I think GTA IV will get a significant amount of talk because while it is a good game, it's a kind of the oddity in the series. GTA V will get praise, GTA III, VC, and SA get praise. IV gets actual discussion.

Here are a few I feel may start triggering nostalgia trips 10 years from now:

The Last of Us: This game was absolutely brilliant in its narrative, and even though it had a bit of a linear style to it, the gameplay and story are what compensated for that. I wasn’t fortunate to play it myself, and had to resort to seeing long plays and such on YouTube, but I was so compelled by this game.

I absolutely loved the acting, and how characters had to adapt to the circumstances, or else they would suffer significantly. The ending obviously was begging for a sequel, which I hope they’ll implement. Because having that ending and not expounding on that in the future is just stifling the potential this game has.

Uncharted (especially Uncharted 3): I loved the third installment of this franchise and watched through nearly all the scenes and gameplay. It had so many associations of Indiana Jones, and a mélange of other action-packed themes. You have to admit that when you see Drake, this guy just has an insane amount of luck when he goes about in extremely dangerous situations.

He’s just that guy that will continue looking for action even when he’s old like Victor Sullivan. Loved the ending (like most that would have to end off neutral to further the action), and I definitely look forward to future installments.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

This is a game I have to make sure I get and play through sometime in my life. You don’t know how many times I’ve seen gameplay videos, walk-throughs, and cut scenes for this game. I’m probably just part of the over-hyping crew for this game, but the story itself is what I loved about it. I garnered an attachment for Eva in particular when you get to know more about her character (especially in Peace Walker when there’s more information on her history), and The Boss.

If you look back at the game, the linearity was so obvious. It was like picking off members of the Cobra one by one, but that doesn’t mean the novelty wears off the more you analyze it. I feel that with the Metal Gear Solid 5 coming in the near future (which I feel will also be talked about 10 years from now) will be compared to this game. It’s a true work of art, despite of it mostly being focused on cinematic, but that’s what most games from Kojima have some element of.

Why? Honest question, why do you think IV will get actual discussion?

IV gets discussion because it feels like stuff was missing from the game. GTA V feels like a Super GTA game while the others are all vintage GTA.

I think alot of games spanning many genres would fall into the category of "a decade long discussion," games like Mass Effect 2 & 3, Assassins Creed 3, Gears of War 1 & 2, TESV: Skyrim just to name of a few. These 'epic' class games have pushed the boundaries of our imagination, and the creativity of the game developers (Holly Wood could learn a thing or two) themselves and I can't wait to see what the next-gen line has in store for us.
