PS4 and Playstation Plus

What are your thoughts on having to pay to play online with the PS4? I remember one of the main reasons why I bought a PS3 back in 2006 was the free online play, if I had Xbox live from 2006-2013 it would have cost over $400. I am a little more open to paying for Playstation Plus after hearing about the free games they are offering on a regular basis. I guess we will be forced to pay for online next generation, I just hope that the new Playstation Plus ends up improving upon the current PSN service.

PSN at its core is still free.You just need to buy it to play 'most' games online.
Free to Play games will be up to publishers whether you need PS+ or not but yeah,really we would all need to buy it to play our games online.
And lets not forget its just not just to play online,you get also free stuff and game discounts with PS+ (at least you do with PS3 so I presume this will continue with PS4)

Does it bother me though? Well a little sure,but I guess it's the one small price you have to pay for the 'best' console.

I personally think that this is the biggest disappointment about the PS4 overall. I'm primarily a PC gamer, but I do like to keep a console on the side to play some of the exclusive titles, and I just don't like the idea of subscribing monthly because there are months when I don't play the console at all,so I have to spend money now and be forced into playing the console for that whole month so i get the full value out of my money. It's just a disappointment.

Yes,I can understand that.If you only play online very occasionally then fair enough.
Perhaps they will have it weekly too,but I doubt it.

Its not that expensive, and if it makes PS4 competitive with Xbox (lets all admit, xbox had online gaming over playstation) then i'm all for it.

I don't really mind buying PS+ just to support Sony and Playstation in general. They don't really offer anything different from free-to-play players and people with a PS+ subscription, not much of a noticeable difference, but when it comes to the Xbox One, they give the positive side to Xbox Live members. That's one of the reasons why I'm a bit reluctant of buying Xbox Live at times, but at the same time, I want the perks that the free members don't get.

I personally don't think its a bad feature they will probably offer better connection etc for the money so i'm happy with that just hope it doesn't go up and the network is good. I think playstation plus will be awesome aswell so i'm happy.

Being an ex-Xbox player I don't mind paying. It's kind of funny to hear the complaints (completely unfair imo). Just think about how much better of an experience you are going to get now that's how I see it. No more unfriendly dashboard or laggy online play.

It's pretty annoying information to be honest. I've always been happy that Xbox customers had to pay whereas PS customers had it free (not that I think Xbox shouldn't be free too, but the difference was nice seen as though I'm always touted towards PS instead of Xbox). I heard that it will still be cheaper than Xbox online though, so I suppose it's not all bad news.

I would say this along with on disc DLC that really tarnished last gen a bit. I remember when gamers would not even pay for maps. Either way I am not happy about it. Yes, PSN + was a decent value but MP behind a paywall stinks.
