If you read on though, it says that Killzone: Shadow Fall, DriveClub, Knack, and Infamous: Second Son will be that price upon release. As for future games, I hope it won't be any more then that, but we will see.

I was kind of expecting that. Usually newer games come out at the $50-$70 mark. Some exclusives for the PS4 may cost a bit more, maybe 65 or 70 bucks for them.

Well, looks like i will still be doing the old waiting period on new games and then buy them for cheaper, which is something i was already expecting, so it's no big deal.

No surprise there. I think that we will continue to see this price tag for a looong time. I have no problem with this since I am already accustomed to paying 60 bucks a game. I wonder if the Xbox One will also have the same price tag with all their restrictions.

I guess I'm not really surprised, but I am relieved. I don't like paying full price for games unless I'm absolutely sure that they're going to be good. In fact, I think I've only ever bought 2 or 3 games for full price (and only one on its release date). If they had upped the price, it would just mean I'd have to wait even longer for games to go on sale.

I don't really see how they could have justified increasing the game prices... 60$ has been for a pretty long time and it's a pretty ok-ish price for a game. Also game developers get additional income from DLC and special editons / features on games.

I'm glad they didn't hike the prices, as I was expecting it at least a bit seeing that they are probably selling their consoles at a loss. I suppose they will be relying on PS+ for that added revenue instead, which I think was a good move by them since consumers would probably backlash at the sight of a price hike. I think it's a fair price, and it provides ample room for the used games market price, so I hope they keep at as such for as long as possible.

Well that's very good news. I was worried that there would be a $10 price increase for this upcoming generation. Fortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. That doesn't change the fact that games these days are still pretty much expensive and buyers will have to be extra careful when choosing a game so that they get their money's worth. Nothing is more frustrating then buying a game at full price only to find out it is too short or not very good and then turning around and selling it for only half the price.

Yup, that's why I read a lot of game reviews and comments first before I actually purchase a game. I try to gather different info like the game's length or its relplay value. This has helped me choose games that would suit my tastes.

I agree that games are a bit too expensive nowadays, but I do understand since they are still technically more or less targeted for older audiences, and it probably takes a lot more effort and requires bigger development teams than ever to develop and push a game into market. Fortunately, now we have Youtube and thousands of websites to rely on so we don't waste money needlessly, but even then it's still risky since reviews don't always coincide with our tastes, but I suppose discovery and uncertainty always has played a big part in the anticipation and enjoyment of the whole consumer gaming experience.

If they would raise the price of games, players would still refused to buy! It would have been another buzz as if it was a scandal.

Sony and Microsoft will not venture into this field and they will sell the games at the same price. The development is expected to be cheaper than on PS4 PS3. And development time should be shorter.

So there is no reason to increase the cost of development!

Doesn't make much difference to me. Most games nowadays at release are at $59.99. And than after that the prices go lower. I would probably do what I usually do, and just buy the game about 2-3 months after release as its cheaper. The only games I don't wait are ones that I know will be good like the ones made by Naughty Dog.

I am not surprised.

With DLC, the revenue per copy goes up, so it's not like they really need to invite that negative buzz.
