Just announced at E3: It's official. Sony's Playstation 4 will cost $399!

Less 100$ than the Xbox One. Looks like we got a winner for the E3, specially with all the games it has been announced with the console.
Too bad for the paying online thought.

Going for the win! I knew that stupid Kinect was going to cost Microsoft. This is what happens when you get arrogant. Sony is going to mop the floor with Microsoft based on price alone. Nobody cares about Kinect. If anything, I think it takes away from the Xbox now. They also will not have a Halo title until 2014 while Sony has Infamous and Killzone ready to go. Well done Sony!

Great price, considering how high it was when the PS3 came out. Microsoft must be kicking themselves, but then I don't know where there's heads have been lately. I'm still not going to buy one, but I'm more likely to get one sooner since the price is a lot lower than what I was expecting.

After this announcement I now plan to grab one Day 1 or a few days afterwards. Something tells me it'll be in high demand and stores will sell out fast.

This is amazing. I was expecting to pay a little more so the fact that its actually $100 less than some speculated its a win for me. :)

That's really cheap compared to the Xbox One, and in my opinion, a LOT better. I might even get this when it releases, and it's pretty rare for me to do that. Hopefully they announce more info today on their Sony panel.

I was already slightly on the fence about PS4 over XBone, but this nailed the coffin door shut. Sorry Master Chief, guess I won't be seeing you for a long... long time friend. Looking forward to The Division though, that game looked too damn perfect.

I wonder how much these will be going for on E-bay. Should produce some very interesting auctions. Will probably also produce some fake sales as well. People passing PS3's off as PS4's. And people only finding out when it arrives in the mail.

I heard the price during the conference on Monday, and thought "wow, talk about a slap in Microsoft's face." I mean, this is nearly a flip from the last console war, where the PS3 was priced much higher than the 360 at launch. It looks like Sony learned their lesson, while Microsoft is hoping with the One that a few exclusives titles, and tacked-on features will be enough to generate sales at the start. That would be a tough situation if the systems were otherwise comparable, but the PS4 is being marketed as so much more gamer friendly.

It is going to be an interesting winter, to say the least.

That's excellent actually, I was expecting it to be pricier than that, so this is good news in my books. Since it is going to cost less than the Xbox, this is also great news. Still, I don't have that kind of money to splash out on one right away, but I will in about a year or so, when it's more reduced in price.

They seem to be getting better at understanding their business in the modern world, and it only makes me like them even more. I even think they are doing a much better job at promoting their online store and capabilities than how MS handled theirs. I'm also very happy with the price they're starting at, and I'm just glad they decided to do so since I really didn't want to buy the new Xbox and this just cemented my choice.

That's because Microsoft at this point is all about greed. They already have cornered the OS market, and now just want more and more until there's nothing left. I think Sony has been humbled recently over the failure of a few of their newest invents.

It is reported that PS4 launch games would cost $99 each.

Lol. Just kidding.

$399 puts Sony in such a competitive advantage. I don't know how the Xbox One will respond to this. I think that the Xbox would still survive though. The PS3 is proof of that.

Microsoft will most likely rely on their built in consumer base. They figure their console is so popular people will buy at any price. Of course...they could turn out to be wrong.

I'm so excited about the PlayStation 4 release. I can't wait to get my hands on one of them, but I prefer waiting about a month after the console comes out because they can be buggy when they launch. Definitely, I'm going to get Grand Theft Auto 5.

What do you suppose the availability will be? I didn't think they would be offering pre-orders this far ahead of time, but then I don't really remember what happened last time. I would consider getting a PS4 earlier than I had before, but I just bought a PS3 not that long ago and I would feel like I was abandoning it.

The price for the PS4 has not been very well received in Europe or the UK where I am based.
The reason being is the huge difference in US price to here, Yes $399 is a good price but in the UK that should be £249 not £349 Sony quoted, also EU are expected to pay 399 euros which is £380 or $531 a huge mark up compared with the US price.
I mean come on we understand a slight price difference but this is ridiculous.

Yeah that does cheese me off slightly. Here in Australia our dollar at the moment is equal to US .96 cents. So we should be paying around the same price as the US, but we're being charged $549. I'd be more angry about it if we weren't so used to being ripped off constantly. Ah well.
