PS4 vs. Xbox One - The Ultimate Showdown!!!

From what I have read Play Station does seem to be gaining an edge over the other manufacturers of the game consoles. They seem to do a better job of coming up with the more innovative ideas.

PS4 has taken the lead, if for no other reason than it's not forcing any silly gimmick onto you. It's working for Nintendo, because they actually do something original, and fun with their gimmick, but the kinect...Microsoft hasn't done anything with it. The hackers and indies have, but not MS itself.

For now though, of the two Sony is winning. Of all three, with the recent E3 conferences, I think Nintendo has taken the lead as before, maybe just because of the way they handled their PR. Sony and MS was very...bland. Nintendo was entertaining, and fun. Like games should be.

I have both consoles. I play on both but I play the PS4 more often, mostly because PS4 was the 1st next gen console I got (XB1 was acquired in late May 2014) and I am part of a clan that mostly plays on the PS4. I will have more games for XB1 by Xmas this yr so I will be able to get some use out it. I do like XB1s UI and the snap feature. And PS4 allows for smooth transition between apps & profiles. Both consoles have pros and cons but so far the cons are minimal.

Do you notice any graphical difference between the 2?

Well, apparently it seems that PS4 packs more power than Xbox One just like the last generation of consoles. It's nothing new. Anyways, I have both the consoles, so there is nothing to worry about.

I actually think that they're equally good in a way. They both have their pros and cons, and neither one is therefore a perfect choice or anything. Despite that, the PS4 is my personal favorite either way, even though i wouldn't quite mind having an Xbox One instead. As long as I have the choice, I will keep buying playstations instead of the Xbox, mostly due to being used to using playstations and everything. I can't stand the xbox controllers either way, even if you can replace them... It's a bit of a hassle.

I think the PS4 is my console this generation, it seems much more focused on gaming as opposed to a multi purpose device...however, I'm looking forward to see what the Xbox one exclusive games will be

Console wars are a young mans game, and I earned my scars in the genesis/(s)nes gen.

I bought a PS4 over XB1 for three reasons. 1) I was afraid I'd use the split screen tv/skyping. I'm bad enough as it is without the added distractions. 2) PS4 seemed to have a little more oomph in it. 3) I already had a PS+ sub for another year.

Most definitely the PS4. I think the PS4 is better but the Xbox One in my opinion has more features. I still pick the PlayStation 4 over Xbox One because eventually Sony will do a lot of updates later on and then the Xbox will definitely have no competition.

In my opinion small things make me hate X1. I hate how slowly it moves from menu to menu (I don't know I could be spoiled but it is slow for me), how everything is same color so you can't recognize things of more importance, kinect wont recognize my voice, TV input and options are not so great, controller is terrible and so on. PS4 has only one downside for now, battery life is really too short.

Okay, I have both consoles. The reason everyone says PS4 is because back when the Xbox One was announced it was a terrible console with ridiculous policies and restrictions. Thankfully microsoft fixed all that and today's Xbox One and Ps4 are practically identical but people still hold a grudge against Microsoft. Bottom line just get the console that has the game you want.

That's like saying that Mac and PC are the same because they both use almost same hardware. Duh.

I bought an xb1 on day one, and a ps4 3 days ago. Honestly, there is not a single exclusive for ps4 that I have any intention of buying right now. I spend most of my ps4 time playing Warframe and DC Universe, but I still make time to throw down on some Dead Rising 3 (that latest ultimate extreme whatever dlc is freaking awesome) and Forza on the xb1. I did get my Destiny pre-order swapped over to the ps4, but the xb1 will still have its place. The xb1 dashboard preview program is pretty cool and you can definitely see how willing Microsoft is to listen to their active user base. I just don't see that happening with Sony and the ps4. It also bothers me that they didn't think to put a usb 3.0 port on the back of the console to make future external storage not look ridiculous.

Edit: tl;dr both consoles are great, both with their own strengths and weaknesses.

No the reason everyone says PS4 is it's more powerful, has better designed controllers, has more games and wider variety and it's cheaper.

Eh.... most, including myself, prefer the xb1 controller. Both consoles are also the same price now. And there are also reports that the xb1 also has more working ram available to the game.

THe more working RAM does not mean jack. Take a look at the multiplatform games and you will notice rhat the 1080p/60fps is happening more on the PS4 due to the faster RAM and better technical architecture. With that said, I don't think there is much of a difference to matter. It is all about the exclusives. I will stick with Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, and Quantic Dreams for my exclusives. They make games that never get ported to the PC. Yes, I know Quantic Dreams originally wrote unique PC games but that is no longer their market.

In my professional opinion, it is hard to go wrong with either console. In my personal opinion, Sony makes better hardware with enough extra oomph to make their AAA exclusives look better,

I use an Xbox controller for my Steam PC (Not Steam Bpx) and it is a great controller. All I ask is for people not to ditch the Xbox controller unless they have used it a good bit. Sony originally had a controller much closer to the Xbox for the _PS4 but changed it. I don't know if this was fear of copyright/patent issues or other reasons. I also find something more natural about the AB and XY over the Square/Circle/Triangle/X symbols of the PS4. I would be willing to turn off the LED in the PS4 controller if Sony would let me to give more battery life. I actually hope game developers don't overuse the Speaker in the PS4 controller.

Both are good platforms after Microsoft did listen to their fan base which is something that Sony does not seem to do.

I am perfectly happy if the PS4/Xbone are in a tight race because that should mean better games. We are all gamers and should be hoping for the best games possible for whatever system we have.

Eh surely we are all going to be a bit biased on a playstation forum? Obviously I prefer the PS4 to the Xbone but I think the Xbone is slowly creeping up on PS4's shoulders. The price reduction is really helping it and it is like the same price or even cheaper in some places to buy one over a PS4. Software developers say the PS4 is better but I think it is the case of the architecture being easier to (see: many games on this new gen have better resolution on PS4). I think the main draw of PS4 is the exclusives, at the moment there aren't a lot (annoyingly) but we all know how amazing Sony's first party studios are so in time I think PS4 will seem like the stand out choice.
