Rock Band and Plastic Instruments Will Return on Xbox One and PS4

According to Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos,Rock Band and the plastic instruments will return on PS4 and Xbone.

Gamespot said:
Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos affirms that the company has plans for future Rock Band titles on the current-gen consoles.
When asked specifically if Rock Band with plastic instruments will return, Rigopulos responded, "We think about it all the time because we love Rock Band, and we're waiting for just the right moment in the new generation of consoles to bring it back."
He continues: "Someday, when the time is right, we will want to bring it back."

So there's a strong probability that we'll see a return of the plastic instruments during this console cycle. Maybe just not right away, considering Harmonix is developing several different games simultaneously.

Rock Band is great but I really want Guitar Hero to return. As for the plastic instruments well, I'm not so keen with them anymore, I mean you have games like Rocksmith using a real guitar. I hope the next games will build on what Rocksmith has done, as for Rockband well I think the plastic instruments will work but if they can work on something that will work on real instruments then that would be awesome.

Meh. I do not feel like these will sell that great this time around namely because of Rock Smith. Sure they are great party games, but I jut feel like the generation or era or whatever of Rock Band and Guitar Hero is over. The games were a fad, nothing more.

Awesome news personally, I loved these sort of games because it helped you feel like a badass without actually being one haha. A shame that the genre has literally died in the past few years but playing Rock Band/ Guitar Hero with friends at parties is such a experience because unless you play an instrument you are gonna look stupid and the game is lots of fun anyway.

I really enjoyed the first few Guitar Hero titles for PS2 and I played them extensively but I doubt they are gonna take off on the next gen consoles. Like others have said Rocksmith is just too big right now and people won't go back to plastic guitars when they can use real ones for Rocksmith. I'm not sure if I'm going to pick one up because I loved it on PS2 but I don't own one anymore. I think I'll wait for some trailers or gameplay videos to judge if it's worth my money.

I hope you're all ready to have your living room filled with dumb plastic instruments which you will never actually use, and just sit there, taking up space and gathering dust.

So did you buy them and never use them then?
Not me,apart from the plastic guitar that came with Guitar Hero 5 I bought the Logitech guitar, much much better than those plastic ones.
And as long as you have at least 2 people playing these sorts of games they can be a hell of a lot of fun.
I still have my GH6 and RB3 with other games/discs imported on them as well as bought tracks. I have at least 300 tracks playable for EACH game.
I do like GH but I kinda prefer the RB titles though.

I think this is great news. I still play the older versions we have and I'd definitely want to check out newer ones once they start making them again. I hope they come out with more innovations for the old instruments and maybe even add new ones like a keyboard.

I used to play Guitar Hero on expert using a controller on the titles that allow for it. I'm not looking forward to more music-based games because they've grown old over the years. It's hard to implement new features that make these games even more exciting, and I don't think the developers have the tricks up their sleeves necessary to capture the original glory of the older games that pioneered that particular genre of games.

Although I would like to say that I really enjoyed these games when they had there time but I really think that their times are over. I mean I used to spend lots of time just playing guitar hero and rock band. Now I have both those games and I do not think that I have played any of them in over a year so I would say that their times are really over. I don't think that there are any gamers who are really putting in any time on these games anymore.
