VR tech isn't happening

That's true, about 3D TV. Also price is important. DVD players didn't really take off until the price dropped to an affordable price where it could be picked up outside of Christmas, Black Friday, and tax season. Same with Blu-Ray players. I think it'll be the same case with VR.

I have to agree that we should've had hoverboards by now. I know I would use it, I don't care. We've had plenty of advancements in communications and streaming, medical, and all of that, but we couldn't get hoverboards. Sure we have self driving cars now, but hoverboards, man.

Yes we should already have hoverboards but we were also promised flying cars but we didn't get that too. I want flying cars more than I want hoverboards since they are awfully slow from what was shown unless it's the one with the rocked boost.
Anyway, even if VR is really good it really isn't for me. From the looks of it, it seems people that wear glasses like me won't be able to put it on. Same reason why I can never enjoy a full length 3D movie in theaters without my eyes hurting.

Price is very important in relation to the availability of VR. The other thing is how widely used it is in games. Like at the moment the technology is more of a techie thing. It's not really a mainstream thing, but the potential is there. Price is the main thing that pushes it into mainstream.

You know people will modify their hoverboards with mini-rocket boosters. I think I'd prefer hovercars more than flying cars. At least you wouldn't have to worry about those crashing through roofs for the most part if they break down. You'll always have that one turkey who drives his up a tree.

A thought occurs: Sony went into VR, the rumored Move 2 would work well with some games focused on swordplay. Use your head to look around, have a bottom analog in the role of the left stick, swings to attack, and do whatever is left with menus and stuff.

I don't really care for VR because I know in the near future it's not going to be what I think VR should be at this stage. It'll be something close enough. That could just be putting too much on VR technology though.

It is putting a bit of pressure on the technology and developers, but with such a big deal being made of it by tech press I say it's warranted.

I kind of understand the hype. It's a big step towards getting VR out, but it's like half a step to what people have pictured VR as for decades.

That isn't to say there's nothing special about VR. Like I can see some genres of games benefiting more from it. Racing games and FPS would be the best examples. Really anything in first person. The career mode of some sports games would get the nod too if you play in first person.

I don't see it happening personally for another 2 generations, at the minimum. I'd love it this generation, but it's not gonna happen.

Well that depends in what shape VR would be. If it's what most are looking forward to I agree with 2 generations. Right now it's like "VR enough" lol

It's a shame it's not, but I think this technology should only debut on consoles when it's good and ready to. I know VR gets people excited, but it's not like we need it and are expecting it now. It's one of those things that would be awesome if it happened and was good, but I could also go another 5 years without VR and still be happy.

I really don't care about VR. Maybe I'm one of the few people that don't and I'm old-fashioned, but for the most part I really don't care about it. At least not the way it is currently being implemented. It reminds me of the craze with the Virtual Boy. I'm pretty satisfied with the current trends in gaming and I'm willing to wait until we actually have proper VR. Which I think won't happen for some time.

I haven't tried the Oculus Rift yet, but that does seem like a pretty damn cool piece of technology.

I would be more excited for motion controls that take into account impact and resistance. Like even if you had to get a motion control vest or whatever to mimic impact or whatever. It would require way more effort than they ran with last generation.
