Will Uncharted 4 be slated for a 2014 release?

With the huge success of all the previous Uncharted games, I think it goes without saying that Naughty Dog have got something up their sleeves with a new Uncharted in the works. On the voice actors already 'accidentally' tweeted about doing a recording session with Naughty Dog. Does this mean that it for Uncharted? Well not necessarily but he doesn't voice anything else for ND.

Also the sheer epicosity of the cinematics in Uncharted 3 (and I'm thinking of the ship sinking level) was a fairly large strain on the console. That water had a lot of polygons in it. I was impressed at how the PS3 handled it... but imagine how much more realistic it could have been if it was the PS4 that was running it. They could have designed it to have way more polygons and thus better realism.

Personally I'm suspecting an announcement at the next VGA's or Gamescon. Indeed I'm pretty certain there will be such an announcement. The only question is... will it be given a 2014 release date?

If it does, I will say it'll be a late 2014. But I would guess it to release early 2015.

If they have been working on it for awhile already then I don't see why not. I think devs like to tease long before the game is even done. Hopefully in this case, they're almost done and we'll get new info soon. Unless they jumped on the next gen bandwagon for Uncharted later than they should.

I think it's supposed to come out Fall/Winter of 2014. At least that's my understanding of what I've read so far about it. And it makes sense if they've been working on it for a while as the news reports are suggesting. I'm guessing we'll find out a lot more once the holiday season is over unless they choose to wait until the summer to let out more info. Though I'm kind of impatient about it.

It's true that releasing it for the holiday season would probably boost it's sales. Not that it would need it's sales to be boosted, considering that 90% of Playstation 4 user will probably be buying the game. I just can't help but think that if they were making even a little bit of progress on the game or even had it planned, they would have announced even just the title of it in order to boost sales of the PS4, becasause certainly there are lots of people who buy the console purely for Uncharted.

Well don't forget Watch Dogs being on the list of PS4 must haves. But yeah the holiday season is the best time for the release, you'll sell more PS4 and more games that way. And any Naughty Dog game these days is a system seller so it works out for everyone. The teaser just got more people in line to buy the console when it still has a few kinks to work out.

It would seem more pragmatic for them to shift it for 2014 so it can be part of the line-up instead of being a lead launch that will trickle down into being underrated. Uncharted 3 was honestly top-notch and I liked the atmospheric vibe of an Indiana Jones and other adventure related motifs and themes.

And part of any demo, trailer, and sneak-peeks are just gradual hypnosis for people to wonder and imagine how the game may turn out to be. It’s to get your expectations high, which can pose as a risk if they don’t live up to the hype. But the only way I can see criticism for this game is people who probably don’t realize most games will revolve around core concepts and try to make a different twist to it.

Same song, different dance is something I’m getting into saying a lot for video games and anything that has an enduring trend to be honest. I think the game will live up to the hype being created for it, and I look forward to seeing what will happen next year if it’s shifted for 2014.

I love that you're talking about all the hype that's being created for Uncharted 4. It's a testament to how dedicated we are as fans that Naughty Dog haven't even made an announcement and we're all already so excited for it. Kudos to our community for supporting what makes it great!

I think that in reality if the game is not announced by spring of 2014 then we probably won't see a release until early to mid 2015. That's if we are going to see a new uncharted at all. Which we probably will.

True, my expectation is that we need to see something around the VGX awards in December since normally a ton of trailers are released around the time of the awards show or right around E3 and the Pax's etc... If we don't see anything before summer than I doubt that we'll have Uncharted 4 before the beginning of 2015 at the earliest.

Yeah after Thanksgiving, I imagine that we might start hearing a little more about a new Uncharted and then we'll see what happens. But I'm looking forward to more news, there is some major speculation about who our bad guy is going to be and I haven't heard the names of some many former minor characters brought up before in my life. Naughty Dogs needs to give us a bit more.

I hope to see a 2014 game, this game is certainly anticipated by me. Uncharted is one of those games that is very aesthetically pleasing due to the attention given to the graphics. Can't wait for the release.

There is a good chance that if things go well during the development and for them to already be talking about a 2014 release means that they are close to finishing the game, that we'll see a Fall/Winter release. But I wouldn't hold them to it, we never know if Naughty Dog might announce a delay in release for whatever reason. In fact I expect it.

On one hand I'm glad that they're not making us wait years in anticipation for it, but on the other, I would really want to know as much information on the game as possible. Kudos to the entire team on managing to keep radio silence this long though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Fall/Winter release date since that makes sense for a triple A title. Unless of course their even closer to completion then we think. But I just want to know a big more about the game right now. I want to see gameplay and a full trailer, it's one of the only reasons that I'm willing to sit through Geoff at VGX this year.
