Would you sell your PS3 for a PS4?

I traded my PS3 in for 3 PS4 games back in Jan as had just finished GTA5 and pretty much GT6.

I missed out on The Last Of Us and also the South Park game which looked good.

Luckily TLOU is being remastered in glorious 1080p for the PS4 and I'm hoping we can get a port of South Park at some point.

If you have both and buy the PS+ you will be able to get some amazing free games.

I'm happy with the PS4 and don't actually think I'd want to go back as nostalgia is always better left in the past!

I wouldn't put any faith into Gaikai until we know more details on it. I certainly wouldn't be selling a system based on our hopes of what Gaikai will be.
I will be keeping my PS3 and 360. I like to have them available should I decide to play an old game. Also consider that for the next year after the PS4 launch, we will still be getting PS3 games coming out.

I will never trade my PS3. I have collected Sony’s console since the beginning. I don’t know if PS4 will support retro compatibility but I guess it won’t. So I have to keep my PS3 if I want to play PS3’s games. Because PS3 pool’s games is very good. I told myself that it would never be as good as PS2’s. Fortunately, I was wrong. PS3 has such fantastic game and you have to keep it to play these wonderful games !

Considering the PS4 doesn't have nearly enough backwards compatibility for my liking, I'll be keeping our PS3's until the day they finally give up the ghost, which hopefully won't be for a very long time from now.

If Sony said PS4 would be backwards compatible at launch I would've said "Hell yeah I'd sell my PS3 for PS4." That was the make or break thing as far as selling it to finance a PS4. That said, the argument of "It's time to move on to the 'next generation'!" is on without legs. As it's been said several times on this forum by multiple people in relation to the PS4 and the Xbox One, more games will come out this year, but you won't see a steady library until next year and a rock solid one where it's worth it to start delving into the back library until the year afterwards.

This here. I knew the PS4 wouldn't have BC, but the strongest reason to really trade it off during the launch window and afterwards would've been for PS3 BC.

I don't think it's a bad idea. If you want the PS4 but don't necessarily have the disposable income to spend on one, it's a good option. It would be nice to keep both, though.

I'd save for a little longer. I consider the PS3 to be an amazing device, far more than just a gaming console. I'd hang on to it for the games alone, but what we've done in the house is attach the PS3 and PS4 to different TVs so that both have internet connected machines. It's wonderful.

I am going to keep my PS3, there are too many second hand PS3s on sale at the moment and the price you get isn't great. I would much rather keep my PS3 so I can continue to play my PS3 games for a while. It probably won't get a lot of use but it doesn't take up much space.

Yes I would. Why? Because after a few years the PS3 will be outdated and would probably not be used. It's better to sell it early on when the price is still high rather than wait for it to die down and nobody wants them anymore. Makes me realize how fast moving we are now, it seems just yesterday the PS3 was announced, and now were talking about selling it.

I already played all the games I wanted to play on PS3, I sold it when PS4 got released(to avoid extreme price drop of PS3), then I waited 6 months, got a PS4. I can say I compensated 65% of PS4's price by selling my PS3, pretty good IMO.

I wouldn't sell my Ps3 for a Ps4 unless someone offered me a large sum of money. It would make no sense to me to rid of my Ps3 and soley depend on a Ps4 console for my gaming. There just isn't enough going with the Ps4, for me at least. I think I am going to wait it out and let the system build itself with more games before I look into purchasing.

I actually had this debate with a friend a while ago, haha. He trades in his games, so he didn't have much of a library keeping him attached to his PS3 -- he traded it in for extra $$ on his PS4 preorder, and it worked well for him. I'm the opposite, so there's 100+ PS3 games sitting on my shelf... and while that might be enough to get me a PS4 outright (no point keeping the games without the console), I don't feel comfortable doing that. I'd rather save up and buy a PS4 outright and have the best of both worlds than lose the potential to replay all those games.

Besides, they're still making things for the console. It might not be as prolific as it once was, but I'd hate to sell it off and miss out on a good last hurrah further down the line.

Well, I sold my Xbox 360. I did not have a PS3 until I bought a PS4... my sister's fiance gave me his broken PS3 that is unable to read discs--but can still play games aquired from the PS Store.

I would not sell my PS3 for a PS4. I plan to keep all my games console. I still have my PS1, 2 and 3. I plan to get the PS4, but not sure when. Right around the time I decide to purchase one they will probably develop a PS5. lol!
