Your Most Loved Playstation Products

From all these years of existence and operation of Sony, they have generated a ton (probably literally) of products, game discs and accessories. So which of these would you say you appreciate the most? I'm talking about things that have made you have an emotional connection to the Playstation brand. It can be anything from consoles to controllers or games, also including peripherals and handhelds, of course.

For me, it would be the PS2, the dual shock controllers, and the PSP. Those things have really cemented my admiration for the ingenuity and creativity of Sony's Playstation team, which I think is evident with the amount of fans that these things have respectively. Also, I'd like to add Time Crisis on PS1 and the gun peripheral as an honorable mention to the list. It was an exceptional game and it was transitioned to the PS1 seamlessly, IMO.

How about you? From over a decade's worth of Playstation products, games or accessories - which ones did you find to be really commendable or at least noteworthy?

I would say that it's Sony in general that made the Playstation brand so good. It's hard to just choose one single thing and not appreciate the whole diversity that it has in one of their products. The PS1 with such a great technology for it's time, the huge library of exclusives for the PS2 and the incredible service of the PS3 are all good things that i will remember for years to come.

Also, PSP, best handheld hands down... or at least until the PSVita is cracked.

My PSP and PS3.

I always carry my PS3 at work or anywhere. I used it as my mp3 player in my car and put on my headsets at work.

My ps3 when I got back home from work and enjoy myself a bit before going to bed and after doing some unfinished work at home on my PC.

Aside from just their consoles in general, I'd have to say the PSP. I found it to be really innovative - carrying around discs instead of cartridges?! Awesome! - and it really showed what a handheld is able to do. The quality of the games on there were just so much better than the quality of other handhelds on the market, and it was amazing to me that I was able to carry around full games with voice acting, cut scenes, and good graphics.

I also really liked the UMD Videos they released for the PSP. Yes, they were flawed in that they could only be played on the PSP system and that they were fairly expensive, but in a time before I owned an iPod or any other kind of portable video player, being able to bring videos with me on trips and bus rides was amazing.

The Eye Toy! I think that it's one of the most innovative products that Sony has come up with for its PlayStation line. It's where Microsoft got the idea for the Kinect. If only Sony could have improved the motion detection of the Eye Toy, it would have been as popular as the Kinect. I want to see this project revisited for the PS4.

I've never used it, nor did I even know it existed, to be honest, unless it's the same as PS Move? Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, it will be bundled with the PS4, supposedly to help with finding controllers or something, and from what I gather, a lot less evil than the Kinect and it won't have to be always on. It will just serve as an added peripheral, and IIRC, I think I read that they're only including it because it's such a good gadget and no one is buying it.

Nope, it's not the same as the move. It's the same as the Kinect. I think that the device was really ahead of its time so people were not yet ready to accept it. The device also had a bit of difficulty in detecting movement so there was really a lot to be desired. However, it's still a very innovative device.
