Did anybody play Tekken 4?

You know what? Everybody is taking about Tekken 3 and Tekken 5 and 6 and Tekken Tag... but what about Tekken 4? Didn't anybody play this game on their PS 2s? I played it at an arcade once but I didn't get the hang of it. I found that it was too difficult to land punches and kicks. I dunno... That's why I skipped it and waited for Tekken 5 instead.

I played it briefly, but never really got into it myself as well, or at least not as much as the other Tekken games. It might have been just because I was busy at that time of my life though, and not really a commentary on the quality of the game itself. I don't remember much playing it, other than having a bit of a difficult time adjusting to the new stuff going on, but if I'm not mistaken, it's the first time we got to see Steve, which has been my favorite character since then.

I played it a little, it didn't take long for me to give up on it. Back then I thought Yoshimitsu was the coolest character. So I tried to learn to do his move set, but I just couldn't execute any of the complicated commands. I'm not sure if it was Tekken 4 specifically or just the series in general, but that experience really turned me off the franchise.

I remember that I was still in the press as many buttons as you can phase when it came out on arcades. So, the difficulty in executing moves didn't bother me much. Didn't like it as much as other Tekken games though because my button smashing never resulted in anything cool on Tekken 4.

Nope, I had heard that it didn't lived up to the expectations. So I never bothered with it. I kept playing Tekken 3 until Tekken 5 came out.

Something was off about Tekken 4. I played it through and unlocked everything, but that is only because I am a big Tekken fan. I would skip it if you are only a casual fan. It was certainly a let down from 3.

Tekken 5 on the other hand, is great and comparable to 3. Haven't played anything past 5 though.

I liked Tekken 4 a lot. It was the first Tekken I got on the PS2, and I liked how you could change the language for the characters. Hearing Kazuya say whatever little thing he'd say before a fight in Japanese was badass. The techniques were tight and accurate to each character's discipline, and I was really impressed by that back then.

I think Tekken 4 was a real step up in terms of graphics. The first Tekken on the PS2 was Tekken Tag Tournament I think and the graphics were very similar to that of Tekken 3. Tekken 4 presented beautiful backgrounds and arenas and detailed characters with smooth animations. Maybe that was also one reason why you fell in love with Tekken 4?

My favorite is still Tekken 6, but seeing how Tekken 4 is the first PS2 title in the series (really don't like tag tournament), i think it's one of those necessary steps to move on the series, which is something great at the time, with such awesome graphics.

I have played this and I actually like this game. I like a lot of the tekken games and I play them all the time. I can't wait to play the next tekken game they come out with. I think it's going to be good.
