Necessary Accessories

Necessary? Well maybe not specifically a need but a few things that would make your life easier and more interesting as a PS4 owner would be what I'm going to list below. These are my personal recommendations.

Momentus internal hardrive by seagate, 2.5inches. 1terabyte.
Blu Ray remote, though some ppl have difficulties with blu ray on ps4. Sony should fix that soon though.
Dualshock charging station and the vertical stand (which is cool but maybe not NEEDED)
charge and chat bundle at gamestop.

the vertical stand (which is cool but maybe not NEEDED)
If you use your PS4 vertical it is a good idea to get the stand only cause if you do not then it blocks the vent. AFAIK the stand gives a space from the bottom and vent. Not sure as I havent see it but from what Ive read.

btw: Ive installed a Hitachi 1TB 7200rpm HDD and my PS3 Orb analog stick extenders (works same way as Kontrol Freek ones but in some ways better) also fit on the PS4 sticks.
I dont like the short sticks,on PS3 or PS4.Longer sticks can give you more precision.

Just be sure to get Remotes, Cables and chargers. I have already bought all of them and honestly, they are the only ones that you actually NEED as for want that is another topic to discuss.

Hopefully once you receive the PS4 you will enjoy it!

Does everyone get new hardrives for the console? I had never even heard of that being done until this post

There are no necessary accessories for the PS4. It's a solid console and most of the hardware is decent, but many things can be improved. For example, if you want better loading times you might want to buy an SSD, or if you feel like 500GB isn't enough, you can buy a 1TB drive.

I only ever used the stock 80GB HDD in my PS3 but then I didnt have it at launch and in the end I ended up deleting stuff to add new stuff.
Now with PS4 you may think 500GB is plenty and if you are an occasional gamer then it may be,but if you game a lot I can tell you now that if you can afford it,you are better off getting a larger HDD from the start as many game installs are big not to mention if you download games and DLC.

But I think jbepp has a point,I mean the PS4 out of the box has all you need but any accessory may make life easier for you.
Larger HDD will, longer micro USB charge cable, even a sep controller charger etc.
So if you can spare the cash,go for it.

Chargers and a good microphone, that's all you need! I think the stand would be ok but you should use the ps4 as it's supposed to lay lol

I agree with jbepp. There are no necessary accessories (that's why they're accessories and not mandatory stuff that comes with it out the box). Anything extra is stuff that would be nice to have and would make you PS4 experience easier.

On that note...

Chargers and a good microphone, that's all you need!

If you're going to be streaming or just playing online, get a good mic.

If you are among those guys who love playing their PS4 games over the WIFI PS Vita is an essential accessory. The most important part of the PS vita is their ability to use remote play enabling players to be able to play games via the WIFI. Headsets and cameras are other important accessories you need to have.

The only thing that I think it really handy is a controller charger tower so you can charge more than one controller at a time. It's not necessary but I think it makes life easier when it comes to controllers running out of battery. Personally I like having the camera, but unless you are getting Just Dance or something, it also isn't really necessary.

hi guys,

In regards to the wireless controllers..

What is the best thing to get to charge them?

I agree with the members, a stand looks like it would be a wise decision. It makes me wonder why they don't just include it with the package, honestly. Tripplej, I think the first one looks cooler but that's about as far as my opinion goes as I've never had experience with thee docks. :)

I wish they would have included an extra cable with the single controller I bought separately. Instead the instructions state to use the cable that came with the PS4. Why have 2 inputs on the front then for charging?? lol..

yeah, the first one looks better. It is currently sold out on Amazon. Guess it must be a good one. :)

Here is a pic with the controllers in it.
