Are You Okay With The Prices Of Video Games Today?

How do you feel about the prices of video games in general? Do you feel the prices are too expensive or just right?

For consoles, the prices are a bit too expensive. Paying 60 dollars for 1 game makes things tight. For PC, you find deals all the time. Personally I think they should charge a certain rate based on the amount of Gameplay. At least for the single player game. Metal Gear Rising was around 8 hours tops. I would have hated buying that game for 60 dollars.

I think that the prices are too expensive. I remember when games cost less than thirty dollars. I wish we had those days back, but as the gaming consoles evolve so do the.games. It takes a lot more money to make games than it use to so these development companies need to make up for that. I guess that's why games cost so much. I don't see the prices of games going down anytime soon.

Not really, it's pretty ridiculous to be honest. The price of the games doesn't surpise me at all, I'd actually be quite surpised if they were under £40 in general. With that being said, the main reason I don't buy new games all that often is because of the price.

Since I only buy games on the PC, I think the games are fairly priced. Especially with the rise of digital distributors like Steam and Greenmangaming, sales are slowly becoming prevalent and common. The sales help a lot in saving money. In addition to that, there are deals called "bundles" wherein you could get a lot of games just for $1!

I agree but i really am not suprised by it. Games are getting more elaborate with its features, so the expensive prices are to be expected.

I never paid for my games back then, my parents did, so I have no point of reference to compare how games are priced now in the context of the economy, but just in general, yes I do find them a bit too expensive. I think all games should only cost around $30 so we could just buy more of them instead, but I suppose it's just how the gaming industry has evolved, and on the flipside at least we don't get as many terrible disappointments and false advertising nowadays.

I think 60 dollars is fine for physical copies of games, though I do think that it's ridiculous that digital copies are the same price. There's no physical distribution costs are digital therefore they should be cheaper at launch.

I wish they were cheaper obviously, but I don;t think they are egregiously high. I know that even at $60 dollars a pop, some smaller developers are finding it hard to stay afloat. This has actually lead to the growth of the indie game scene though, so it is actually not all bad.

I think the prices would be more than fair if they didnt try to nickel and dime you after the fact for DLC. For example, 50 dollar car pack for forza motorsport? Thats almost an entirely new game!

Console prices are quite high right now. But think about how much goes into the average one. Trailers and websites and billboards and apps for your phone that tie into them. They're going to be pricey and there's not a whole lot we can do about it -- aside from games like Payday 2, which I think did a great job of advertising through an excellent game before and word of mouth.

But the point is that the larger developers are going to have higher prices. But this offers the smaller developers a chance to undercut them with a game that's cheaper that we might not have otherwise got our hands on.

I think the full price is extremely high when the games are released but with time they keep reducing. So the amount you pay for certain games would only depend on when you bought it. If you buy it a short time after its release you would be sure of paying a premium price while for anyone who waits for sometime they end up paying cheaper. So the decision is yours I personally have found them okay because I take time before going for any game.

I agree with you, upon release they're really expensive. It's understandable because they're new, and since they will lose value through time, it's not that bad.
But with PC games, it's another reality, especially with steam you can get really good discounts on all types of games, you just need to pay attention! :)
