With the cancellation of what should have been the sequel to Command and Conquer Generals and Zero Hour, do you think EA/BioWare left this particular universe behind? Unlike the Tiberian and Red Alert universes, the Generals series did not get the same treatment such as getting a sequel, and it's been nearly a decade since Zero Hour was released in 2003. For what it's worth, I think the Generals series had a uniquely different approach to the Tiberian and Red Alert universes, one of which is the introduction of the Construction Dozer/Worker as compared to the Mobile Construction Vehicle/Construction Yard building system of the Tiberian and Red Alert games. Also, Generals is the first universe to introduce three playable factions (USA, GLA, China) instead of just two in the campaign scenarios, as Yuri and CABAL from their respective expansion games don't count. This actually goes back to the days of the Dune series (Atreides, Ordos, Harkonnen), and later influenced the Tiberian and Red Alert series (Scrin, Empire of the Rising Sun). As for the gameplay, Generals played more like Warcraft/Starcraft than its cousins, but it was nevertheless a great game that can stand on its own. According to EA, the cancellation of the game was due to "corporate shenanigans" as cited by one of the developers, but I think it's more than that. The decision to convert Generals 2 from a campaign to a free-to-play system backfired on EA/BioWare.
