Reviewers didn't like Destiny that much

That's reviewers for you, I don't see why anyone even bothers with reviews anymore. It's easier just to watch either A: someone streaming it or B: someone playing it on video and getting your opinions from there..

Yeah it's pretty much not worth it right now unlike back then where you're only options are magazines. Even though I don't really care much about reviews I still tend to check on them because sometimes the more obscure games that are good aren't really getting that much love from the mainstream audience so your only bet is to check on reviews so if the review is bad then it might affect your judgement.

Ciel's posts are very interesting. I don't have the game myself, though, but I would guess this supposed lack of content wasn't helped by how overhyped the game was.

I don't find there is a lack of content .. That being said, I don't play 60 hours a week like some people, and grind 10 hours a day.

A few things that would make the game better:

a) Better social system (in game text chat maybe?)
b) Slightly more spawn locations / bigger cluster of enemies (I don't know why, but I find it easy taking on 5-6 guys).. Maybe more rapid wave deployment when an initial group spawns. I've only run into a few locations that were truly a challenge during Patrols.
c) More gear types (more than 4 types of main weapons for example)
d) Group/Clan stuff should be in game, not on a website. Even the Grimoires should be through the game. It's not a HUGE problem, but I think it makes more sense.

I don't mind that Bungie has decided to stagger some content release through 'unlocking' it, such as the first raid which was only made available after the first week.

I'm sure once the Expansions start dropping in December (for the first) it will get a lot better.

Overall, I love the game. Just a few things need to be tweaked.

I honestly was hyped for this game before the Alpha and then I played the Alpha and found that the Alpha fun but not 'mind blowing'

I'm glad I didn't get destiny because I haven't heard that much good about it.

I know he might not appeal to many (personally he is the only reviewer I like and trust), but Angry Joe just put up his review for Destiny which basically sums up why I didn't purchase Destiny.

He makes very good points in his review. Crappy story, boring mission structure, terrible dialogue but amazing gameplay, graphics, and sound. But damn it, is this game addicting. Even he admits as such. As numerous as the shortcomings of the game are, I can't help but keep playing it. It also helps that I have a lot of friends that are playing it so we have a jolly good time :D

I'd still give Destiny middling reviews even with all the content. It IS fun to play, but it's not the most impressive game I've ever played. Nothing gets my blood rushing or anything like that. The game is incredibly solid and worth spending a few hours on, but other games have done similar things and sometimes done them better. If Destiny had come out a couple years ago, then it would have been mind-blowing. I like the game without loving it, and I'd rate it at 7 or 8 out of 10. I think a 6, though, is a little too low.

I generally take all reviews with a pinch of salt. As I've said in the recent past, reviewers to magazines or even online videos are simply people like you and me. Dare I say this but sometimes they may have hidden perks which may rate a game better than it ought to be and vise-versa, companies may not have responded well to a previous review they've done and the reviewer will, in future, hold a grudge to mark decent games from that particular company lower. Obviously I have no evidence to prove this, but you can see it happening and I can think of a raft of games from the first half of the last decade (and a few at the back end) which had views close to the opposite of my own – whether it be negative or positive.

As a result, I can probably count on one hand the amount of Playstation Magazines and online reviews from such sources for a decade now. These days, I take each game on it's own merits. I'll look at the pictures and perhaps resort to seeing varying lengths of it on YouTube (from independent walkthrough gamers – some I've listed in the past) to judge it for myself before taking it further with regards to a purchase if necessary. I've done this for several years and so far, I've not set a foot wrong. I've saved myself a small fortune.

After saying all of this though, I must say that I think reviews of Destiny have been pretty fair, judged from what I've watched of the game. Obviously without a PS4, I can't comment on how it actually feels to play. I can only cast judgement from the campaign walkthrough I've watched. I'm about an hour from the end of it now and unless there's a massive upturn in events in what I've got left to see, I must honestly say it leaves me feeling almost completely cold. I know I've moaned on about how much my eyes glaze over at just about FPS title (simply because of the vast over-saturation of them on the market over the last six or seven years), but I can honestly say there's near enough nothing in the game, campaign wise, that wants me to buy it. I find it very repetitive and the system of levelling up, perks you get e.t.c. way too complicated. I still don't understand what's supposed to be going on, who's who or anything like that.

Positives? It has an excellent soundtrack without doubt and some of the weapons also sound impressive. Other than that, well…I have to shrug my shoulders. To me, it's just a generic FPS game that has a 'travelling through space' theme. You enter an arena, shoot everything until it's all gone. Transport yourself to another with a different backdrop and repeat the same process (many times over)...

I know this game does have it's fans and if those people enjoy it – that's all that matters. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who wouldn't enjoy some games that I play. For instance, I quite enjoyed Resident Evil Survivor (the first person one) – a title that's unanimously loathed!

However in my eyes, 6/10 really is a fair score for Destiny when you average everything out.

I just don't 'get it' – sorry!

I spent £80 on Destiny...biggest waste of money I ever spent! It's fun for all of 30 mins at a time but then it just gets repetitive and you end up turning it off....I really hope the new COD can save the day as all of the games ive had on PS4 bar UFC have been poor.

Yep, thats where I am now. Made it to level 26, and just kind of got stuck there. I have gotten 6 legendary engrams, all of which turned blue, to materials, and one exotic for the wrong class. that pretty much ruined it for me. I haven't played in two days.

I know there is a patch for engrams, so I may try again, but I just feel bored with it now.

I hope COD is good, but that will depend on the community and not the game. The COD community can be pretty bad at times too.
